The Night Before Season

Video by Travis Pomilio of Guru Lax

It was the night before season And all through the town
Not a coach was asleep, Few even laid down.

The bucket was filled to the brim with fresh balls; With hopes that the players would not lose them all.
The practice plan finished, drills all aligned, At the end, conditioning, which was not very kind.
The clipboard and whistle ready to go, Assistants set, all ducks in a row.

The players in town all sat in their rooms, The first day of tryouts continued to loom
The freshmen were nervous, the sophomores prepared,
The juniors were anxious, and the seniors scared.

For time was limited, only a few days remained
To leave their mark or a legacy unclaimed.

As the night stretched on long and dawn drew even near,
A new season was here, it was crystal clear.
On players and trainers, assistants and coaches,
Now comes the time when the first day approaches.
